Motorbike touring, not mountain biking

This is motorcycle touring — riding a motorbike/motorcycle on Nepal's hill and mountain roads — not mountain biking (pedal bicycles on off-road trails, which we also offer separately around Pokhara). If you're after pedal-powered trail riding, see our Mountain Biking listing under Pokhara's adventure activities instead.

For travellers who want to see Nepal's hills and valleys from the seat of a motorcycle, we coordinate guided day rides and multi-day touring routes around Pokhara and beyond, with an experienced lead rider and route briefing. Everything about a specific ride — bike model and condition, whether a support vehicle or mechanic is included, exact route and group size — is confirmed as part of your individual quotation; we don't promise a specific bike or support arrangement here that hasn't been confirmed for your dates.

Day rides and longer tours

A single day out — to the foothills around Dhampus or a loop through quieter back roads — suits riders short on time or wanting to try a route before committing to more days. Multi-day touring further into the hills suits riders who want a genuinely immersive, self-ridden trip with overnight stops along the way; both are planned around your available time, riding experience and the season.

Manang & Mustang off-road motorcycle rides

Explore Nepal's mountain valleys on a tailored, multi-day Manang or Mustang off-road motorbike tour. These rides suit experienced motorcyclists comfortable with loose gravel, rocky sections, ruts, steep bends and exposed mountain roads. They are not beginner riding lessons. Tell us your off-road experience, dates and preferred pace so we can propose a realistic route and support plan.

Manang and Mustang are separate valleys. You can request either region or a combined itinerary with road transfers through the lower valleys; we do not offer a motorcycle crossing of the Thorong La trekking pass.

Manang: the Marsyangdi valley approach

A Manang ride follows the road approach from Besisahar through the Marsyangdi valley toward Chame, Pisang and Manang, subject to current access. Expect changing surfaces, mountain villages and increasingly high-altitude surroundings. Daily distances, overnight stops and rest days are planned around road conditions and acclimatisation rather than maximum mileage.

Mustang: Kali Gandaki valley and optional Upper Mustang

Mustang routes can approach from Pokhara via Beni and the Kali Gandaki valley toward Marpha, Jomsom and Kagbeni. A Muktinath side trip may be included when road access and altitude pacing allow. The route offers a changing landscape of river gorges, apple-growing villages and dry mountain valleys.

Upper Mustang toward Lo Manthang is a separate, restricted-area extension, not an automatic inclusion in every Mustang ride. We confirm the applicable conservation-area entry and restricted-area permissions, current eligibility and costs with the operating partner before booking. Requirements depend on the actual route and traveller circumstances; no permit fee or access guarantee is assumed here.

Season, altitude and what your quote includes

Spring and autumn are useful starting points for planning, but high mountain routes depend on current weather and road access. Monsoon rain can cause landslides and difficult river crossings; winter snow or ice can block higher sections. We check conditions before departure and allow time for acclimatisation, rest and route changes. A lower-altitude Pokhara day ride is a separate option when a high-valley expedition does not suit your experience or schedule.

Your written quote confirms the proposed route, duration, motorcycle and rental terms, fuel, accommodation and meals, permits, guide, protective equipment, and whether a mechanic, support vehicle or luggage transport is included. Share your licence details and riding history, and check that your insurance covers the motorcycle you will ride, the planned altitude and emergency evacuation. Prices and departures are tailored to confirmed arrangements rather than advertised as fixed packages.

Rider experience, licence & protective equipment

We ask about your motorcycling experience before proposing a route — some roads around Pokhara suit confident novice riders, while others (steeper, looser-surfaced mountain tracks) are better matched to experienced riders. A valid motorcycle licence recognised in Nepal (or an International Driving Permit covering motorcycles, where applicable) is required to ride; we can advise on current requirements, but confirming your own eligibility to ride in Nepal is your responsibility. A helmet and appropriate protective riding gear (jacket, gloves, sturdy boots) are required for every ride we coordinate — we can advise on rental gear availability, but recommend riders who have their own well-fitted gear bring it.

Terrain, seasons & insurance

Mountain roads around Pokhara range from sealed highway to unsealed, sometimes rough tracks, and conditions change with weather — monsoon months (roughly June–September) bring a materially higher risk of landslip, mud and reduced visibility, so we favour the drier October–May window for most routes and adjust or postpone when conditions genuinely don't allow it. Comprehensive travel insurance that explicitly covers motorcycle riding is strongly recommended and may be required depending on route — check your policy's terms before booking, since some standard policies exclude motorised 'adventure sport' activities.
